If your looking for the best Halloween activities for the classroom, you came to the right place! Every year, kids from all over are counting down the days to Halloween! Classroom teachers and parents prepare for the exciting crafts, games, and activities that come with that anticipation. So how do you even begin preparing and prepping for that exciting time? To make your life easier, I put together a list of the BEST Halloween games, activities and crafts for children of all ages!
STEM Activities
We all know how exciting and fun STEM activities can be in the classroom, and for good reason! Students have the opportunity to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math. One STEM focused activity my students love is the Pumpkin Life Cycle Investigations. In this engaging, hands-on Halloween themed activity, students explore pumpkins through diagrams, experiments, exploration, and more!
Games, games, and more games!
- Ring toss – Ring toss is such a classic game. Who doesn’t love ring toss?! With this Halloween inspired ring toss, kids toss a plastic ring onto a witch’s hat. A perfect game for Halloween parties in the classroom. Simple to set up and easy to use! Check out the game here!
- A Mystery Game! – Mystery games have been a HUGE hit with my classroom. They are so engaged and excited when they see a mystery game on the schedule. They always beg to do more! These fun and interactive games are a great way to help students work on a variety of skills including, inferencing, comprehension, team-building, collaboration, and so much more! - Halloween BINGO! – Another fun activity to add to your Halloween agenda, is BINGO! This Halloween inspired BINGO game is full of fun characters like ghosts, witches, warlocks, and more! Students will LOVE playing this game and getting a Halloween BINGO! Check it out here!
- Halloween Egg Spoon Race – It’s a popular Minute to Win it game, but have you ever thought of a Halloween inspired egg spoon race? Well, you can now! This egg spoon race comes complete with colorful wooden spoons that have monster faces on the back and “eggs” that look like colorful eyeballs! - Make some Witch’s Brew and Potions! – This is one of the best Halloween activities for the classroom! I don’t know about you, but my students LOVE anything they can make and take home to share with their friends and family. For this Halloween craft, students can make their own witch’s potion to showoff to their friends and family! The kit includes everything you need to create your own potions! Check it out here!
- Halloween Bookmarks – As teachers, we understand how important and critical reading is for our young learners. Why not add some fun to reading by making some Halloween inspired bookmarks! Students can choose from a variety of characters, colors, and designs to make their bookmark unique and have that Halloween flair! Check out the bookmarks here!
- Pumpkin Painting – And of course, let’s not forget one of the most fun and messy Halloween activities around, painting pumpkins! Every year, after we do our pumpkin investigations, we paint our pumpkins and host a pumpkin painting contest! It’s fun, messy, and makes for great memories! Make sure you have the right paint for pumpkin painting. I’ve made this mistake before and the paint just flakes off. To create beautiful paintings on your pumpkins, make sure to use paint markers or acrylic paint. Enjoy!
